Kung Fu Michael Pringle Certification
4th Degree Black Belt Grading

As the Dai Sifu and the masters approached the red table for his kung fu certification, I could see Si Hing Michael break out in a cold sweat. I looked him straight in the eyes and he looked very nervous.

Kung Fu Certification Michael Pringle 4th Degree Black Belt

When everyone was seated, Si Gung Richard announced the start of the grading. Si Hing Michael was ready to beat up Sifu Craig, who volunteered to be his dummy. Thanks Sifu Craig, for being generous in donating your body to get pounded.

For the final assessment of his 4th Degree Black Belt, Michael had to perform various art forms to complete his dim mak kung fu grading. Before this final examination, he had to complete a series of exams in kung fu which took about 12 months. In addition, he had to complete a theory paper on dim mak. The dim mak art forms consisted of techniques from Devil Hands, Ghost Hands and Centre Line Theory. Here is a summary given by Michael on his techniques.

Devil Hands of Dim Mak Pressure Points

Devil hands is a system of self-defence where practitioners seize limbs and lock joints to defend themselves. Dim Mak pressure points are grasped to immobilise, subdue or paralyse an opponent. Other targets which are seized or ripped include: muscles, tendons, blood vessels and nervous tissue. This means the Devil Hands practitioner only uses a small amount of force for maximum results. In the past it was said these techniques were so devastating, the devilhimself would cry out in pain.

Ghost Hands of Dim Mak Pressure Points

Ghost hands relies on precise technique and speed of delivery. Power is generated through the practitioner’s internal Chi and is directed using various pounce stepping method.s It is a ruthless and direct fighting strategy targeting Dim Mak pressure points. The technique delivery is so fast, the opponent cannot react in time to defend themselves, hence the title “ghost hands”.

Centre Line of Dim Mak Pressure Points

Centre Line is a system based around attacking the vulnerable Conception Vessel meridian which runs down the front midline of the body. This meridian has long been understood to contain many death points. It was thus considered by the ancients to be a primary target in DimMak combat. To gain access to the opponent’s Centreline, back cross stepping and parallel stepping methods are employed, along with a slice block. Damage can be further amplified by reversing the Chi flow along the opponent’s Conception Vessel.

Overall, Si Hing Michael was very strong in all his techniques. He demonstrated the right breathing techniques and he was very accurate in hitting the right pressure points. He showed excellent spirit and his footwork was as fast as lightening.

To sum up, I rate Si Hing Michael’s performance 99.9 recurring. Well done Si Hing Michael and congratulations from all of us. You are an inspiration for all!

Ashleigh Tsui-Po, Junior 5th grade Kung Fu.
