Kung Fu Dim Mak Pressure Points,
the art and science

Kung Fu as a martial art is a guide to a healthier lifestyle by using ancient Taoist Wisdoms. These wisdoms have a recorded history of over 3,000 years. They have been rigorously tested and proven and are today testified by many people for their powers.

One aspect of that wisdom is the art and science of pressure points, which is also known as dim mak or dian xue. It is included in all Golden Lion’s programmes.

There are two aspects to the art of pressure points: one is for healing and the other for fighting, that is, for self defence. The Two Dragons of Dim Makby Dr Tsui-Po is an excellent book that explains both the healing and defence aspect of dim mak.

Kung Fu Pressure Points in Self Defence

Let's face it, if you've been doing martial arts for 12 months under a reliable source with a traditional background, a genuine teacher, you might have learnt much about pressure points by now. This means that you would have the ability to cause much damage with your techniques.

Regarding the self defence aspect of pressure points, it is extremely important for you to learn pressure points from a reliable source. It is a matter of life and death. You would not want to be relying on a pressure point that has little to no effect when you have to save your life in self defence. An example of pressure points that are useless in defence are points listed as the 24-hour clock by many so-called experts.

In martial arts, we have seen pressure points used in the wrong way; causing participants to suffer from adverse reactions immediately. You can see that these instructors were not aware of the effects of a pressure point strike on the mind and body, so they could not notice that something was wrong. And we have also seen long-term illnesses develop as a result of that.

With an ever-increasing popularity and demand for pressure points, almost anybody could pass for an expert. Those who pretend or try to be an expert are really fools. So choose your teacher carefully. It would be much more honest and safer for instructors to admit their lack of knowledge of pressure points. But we know that, to save face, they won't admit to it.

The best resources on pressure points for self defence are:

  • Top 36 Secret Shaolin Pressure Points
  • The Ultimate Dim Mak Knife Defence Course
  • The Dim Mak Manual - Art & Science of Deadly Pressure Point Fighting
  • The Centreline Theory of Dim Mak - Practical Fighting Strategies for Self Defence
  • The Ghost Hands of Dim Mak, a correspondence course

Details of all these resources are available at Dim Mak World's website (opens in a new window).

    Choose your teacher carefully

The following piece from the classic Tao Te Ching written by Lao Tzu 2500 years ago tells you the reasons why you should search for the source — the traditional master.

    "Follow the ancient way
    To master the present
    Knowing the ancient way
Is the key to the Tao"

Pressure point secrets must be taught to you by teachers of distinction, having learnt the secrets personally from those before them. Unfortunately many teachers today are too lazy to learn properly, instead they rely on bad books, bad magazine articles or a short day course.

The eminent teachers who best know dim mak pressure points usually have the following three experiences:

-- Have trained in a traditional Chinese kung fu system
-- Is a registered traditional Chinese medicine doctor, PLUS
-- Have spent at least two decades or more learning and practising under the same system.

The teachings of these eminent masters give us direction and purpose. They teach us that in order to live a happy, healthy life we need to be in a state of harmony. We do that by balancing our Yin and Yang energies. Our lives are patterned around natural laws. Once we know how to follow these laws, life can be lengthened and improved, diseases resisted and overcome.

The aim of your teacher is to help you become a better person by teaching you exactly how you can transform your thoughts, attitudes, behaviours, training, and life. To do that you need a founding philosophy. The philosophy of Taoism is the basis for martial arts, especially kung fu and dim mak. At Dim Mak World and at the Golden Lion Academy, much of these skills are taught in our programmes.

Kung Fu Pressure Points for Health and Healing

The study and practice of pressure points in kung fu also prevents illness and improves life.

We know that our body has its own healing potential, but most teachers fail to teach us exactly how we can unleash, nurture and use that potential. Health isn't just the absence of illness, it's a philosophy of life — the WAY you live your life, your emotions, your thoughts and your behaviour. These shape your health and your illness.

Many of us are victims of our lifestyle. We've come to accept many things, which are injurious to our mental and physical health.

How often have we caught a cold, pulled a muscle, felt drained of energy — for no reason whatsoever? And we thought we were quite fit and strong.

You see, our body has an alarm clock that rings loud when disease is about to invade. The problem is: We Don’t Listen!

Far worse is that some people listen, take notice, but Don’t Do Anything About It — until it's too late.

It is our belief that today's instructors should teach self-healing skills to their pupils. They way students can have better health and fitness and learn how to rest and recuperate. All these skills combined will build better prospects for us, for now and for the future.
