About Internationally Recognised Senior Kung Fu Master Richard Tsui-Po

Senior Kung Fu Master Richard Tsui-Po is one of the few martial arts masters in Australia who has the superior knowledge to teach you the traditional, contemporary and self defence applications of Southern Kung Fu (KF).

With 30 years of teaching and competition experience, his proficiency earned him the Australian Full-Contact KF Championship and the perpetual trophy for the most outstanding fighter in 1984. He was also champion at the Bogu All Styles Mixed Tournament Championship in that same year.

Senior Master Richard has represented Australia twice in the World Wushu Invitation Championship, China. In 1988 he competed in the Nan Quan (Southern Kung Fu) section against 50 other competitors where he achieved the high score of 8.7 out of 10 and was rated 12th in the world. Then in 1990 he competed in the Nan Quan section of the International Wushu Tournament and repeated this great score.

In 1990 Senior Master Richard returned to Asia to study in Macau where he obtained his International Coaching Certificate, conducted by several eminent masters from China. In addition he is registered as a qualified KF Instructor under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme of the Australian Sports Commission.

During 1991-2000, Senior Master Richard devoted much of his time to teaching self defence classes at major corporations (Axa, Esso, Ford Australia) and in private schools (Carey Grammar and Hailbury College).

In June 2001, he became certified by the International Wushu Federation as a judge. In order to become qualified it was necessary to demonstrate a sound understanding of both the practical and theoretical aspects of international competition routines.

Senior Master Richard’s extensive skills may be attributed to a long list of some of the best martial arts Masters from China. They include; Pan Qin Fu, Wu Bin, Huang Jian Gang, Bai Wen Xian, Wang Deming and many more. He still keeps in contact with these Masters on regular visits.

A full-time professional teacher, much of Senior Master Richard’s work today involves coaching students to achieve their personal goals. Some of his students were successful competitors at the 2004 Traditional Wushu Festival in Zhengzhou, China. Golden Lion Academy students won 4 gold, 8 silver and one bronze medal. Other students have won many local and national competitions.

Recently at the 2008 Australian Kung Fu and Wushu Federation Championship, a group of students from Golden Lion Academy won 6 gold medals and 5 silver with one student declared grand champion in traditional Kung Fu.

Senior Master Richard has taught many students from beginner level through to black belt and gold belt ‘master’ levels. In the classes taught under his direction, students experience a supportive, energetic yet challenging atmosphere. Each person receives the individual attention to enable them to reach their personal best.

Special KF training manuals authored by Senior Master Richard for the benefit of his students include, Foundations of KF, Spirit of the tiger, Fighting arts of KF and Iron wire breathing form. A DVD on the foundations of KF is also available.
